We got a little creative in the s'mores department yesterday. They were so amazing that I just had to share.

We replaced the Hershey's chocolate bar with a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, used 2 marshmallows, and honey graham crackers. I made them all snuggly in their aluminum foil, and then Trask threw them on the BBQ for about 4 minutes.

The end result: gooey fingers, lots of smiles and a small food baby in my stomach.

Seriously, go do this. It's amazing.

Lemon Kissed News

Lemon Kissed will be celebrating its 1 year birthday at the end of this month, and along with a birthday sale celebration, we're also making some fun changes with Lemon Kissed.

Lemon Kissed will be leaving Etsy. I am venturing out and will have my own website - from there you can catch up on the blog, do some shopping, and hopefully it will be easy as pie to still get your Lemon Kissed pretties. I will keep a few items in the Etsy shop, but the majority of Lemon Kissed's jewelry will be available from our website. The website is going to be a big project, but will be ready to shop in by July!

We're learning, growing, expanding! Lemon Kissed will soon branch out and be offering many new styles of jewelry for you to adorn your pretty selves with. I hope that this is as exciting to you as it is for me. My head is overflowing with new ideas. As always, I am always happy to hear what you want to see from Lemon Kissed, too, so please always keep those ideas and requests coming.

Also, Lemon Kissed will soon be offering a few new pieces at lower price points - but get them before they are gone, because most of these earrings will be one of a kind pieces, and priced at $10. Awesome, right?!

thrifty jewelry displays

I'm constantly looking for cute and fun ways to display jewelry, whether it is my own or for Lemon Kissed open houses. I am not a fan of the traditional jewelry box (yawn), it's just too boring for me. I think that jewelry is art, and when it's not on you, I think it should still be out and displayed all pretty.

Displaying your jewelry doesn't have to be a difficult or expensive task. I'm here to give you a few thrifty thrift store finds that I turned in to instant jewelry displays. Ready??

SHUTTERS
First, wooden shutters are a great find. I found this little gem today for $4. It isn't beat up, but it has a shabby feel to it, which I love, because it's perfectly casual and relaxed - just my style.

Shutters can be used to hang most dangle earrings. You could even pick up a few knobs and affix them to the shutter to hold necklaces and bracelets. I just draped a necklace on the edge and that worked, too.

Shutters can be hung on the wall, to clear up dresser or table space, or to fill a blank wall, or they can be propped up on a surface, making it easy to transport from spot to spot. This is handy for open houses!!

EGG CUPS
Okay, honestly, when I found these egg cups, I thought that they were candle holders. I guess it doesn't matter that I was wrong (it's rare), because I knew right away that I'd be using them for jewelry display.

These egg cups were $1.99 each. I haven't seen many egg cups that have the saucer-type plate underneath, but then again, I haven't paid much attention to egg cups. I bet if you had an egg cup, it could be adhered to a cute saucer, to get the same effect as the ones pictured here.

I figured there were two ways to use these egg cups: singly or stacked. I haven't decided which I like better, so I won't be busting out the glue any time soon, but I do like that I have the option to stack if I want to.

FIGURES + PONIES
My sister made me this incredibly clever chalkboard horse that she made with an old Breyer pony. I love putting a necklace or a bracelet on the pony when it's not on my neck or wrist - this way I feel that the pony serves an extra purpose. Are there figures or things on your dresser or armoire that could hold a necklace for you? Just an idea...

Displaying and storing your jewelry doesn't have to be expensive, because that takes away from your jewelry spending budget anyway!

Salt Dough

I just made a great batch of salt dough for my kiddos and I to play with. In case you were wondering, salt dough is a great dough that dries, or can be baked, and hardens. You can paint it when it's dry, and really, the possibilities are endless.

Here is the recipe that I followed, found in the book Crafts From Salt Dough, by Audrey Gessat.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup flour
2/3 cup salt
3/4 cup cornstarch
2/3 cup water

Directions:

Mix the flour, salt and cornstarch in a salad bowl. The cornstarch gives the dough a better consistency, but if you don't have it, you can add more flour.
Mix in the water.
Knead the dough for 10 minutes. (take your jewelry off!) The dough should form a firm ball.

Hints and Tricks:

To see if you have the right consistency, put a little of it on the table. If it spreads out, add a bit more flour. If it crumbles, add water 1 tablespoon at a time.
If you have leftover dough, store it in the fridge in a plastic bag or in a plastic covered dish.

You don't have to cook your dough, it can be air dried, but it takes longer. If you cook the dough, your crafts will be stronger. For best results, it says to cook your creations a day after they've been air drying.

Cooking:

Oven temperature 200 degrees F (93 C)
Put objects on a cookie sheet or aluminum pie pan
Take your crafts out of the oven after 3 hours. Let them cool.
Tap the object with a fingernail to make sure it's done. If the sound is light, it is cooked. If the sound is heavy, stick it in the oven a bit longer.

I've been ignoring a huge blog post topic - clothing fashion and accessories! I am now going to occasionally pop in and show you guys a great outfit, and then show what kind of jewelry pieces would look great with it!

Are you guys ready for a honkin' huge dose of CUTE? Today I want to introduce you all to Jenna, the talent behind a sweet and fun Etsy shop called Tucker Reece. Jenna is just the sweetest, and has amazing talent, and I admire her sense of style. I feel so lucky that she agreed to do an interview with me on my little old blog, so sit back and enjoy meeting Jenna and her shop, Tucker Reece.

How did your shop get started?

While working as a merchandiser in a department store, they were bought by liquidators. So, I requested to be in the first wave of let go's and opened my shop the following day knowing this was the perfect time to finally start the Etsy shop I had wanted to start since I first learned of Etsy.

What does a typical day look like for you? How do you organize your time and tasks?

Never consistent, lol. I'm a Cancer so I tend to operate based on my mood and I have no children to navigate my day. I do take deadlines into consideration since many of my orders are for weddings, so that tends to keep me on track.

Where do you draw inspiration from currently?

My inspiration comes from fellow artist, primarily Estians. Others on Etsy inspire me and are always raising the bar for me.

Name your top 5 favorite Etsy shops.

Too many to pick just five but here are some that stand out to me that might be otherwise unknown to you and your readers.

La Boom arts and crafts - I was lucky enough to win an item for her shop. So fantastic!

Jody Hollier Designs - Jody is a friend of mine and I talked her into opening up a shop. She has great stuff!

Sachiko - I got her arm warmers and am in love with them... she has fantastic customer service and excellent quality.

Miscellaneous Plus - of course I have to favorite my mom's shop, she makes the best minkey blankets.

Metroline6 - love her stuff, my favorite is the Latin Quarter Photography Print.

Where did your shop name come from?

My shop name is the maiden names of my two grandmothers. My paternal grandmother (tucker) was an artist of oil painting, she specialized in seascapes and was always my kindred spirit when it came to my artistic talent. My maternal grandmother (reece) was a amateur seamstress and still to this day crochets the most amazing baby blankets among other things. They both always encouraged my abilities and I felt it would be a great honor and tribute to them to name my shop after them.

What do you do when faced with a 'creative block'?

When I am blocked I have always headed to the internet. Currently, it's Pinterest.com. I love it! It's a great site that let's you have virtual boards to pin your favorite photos to and you can look at other boards or type in a search term and what ever my block is, it seems to get lifted by scrolling thorough the photos. What is your favorite item?

The Dirty Housewife

You guys are in for a treat! You know how every girl has a few "girl crushes"? If you don't, pretend that you do..., well, Tanya from The Dirty Housewife is SO one of my girl crushes! She's funny, she's gorgeous, she's smart and she's nice. Oh, and she makes amazing artisan perfumes, soaps and more! She's our interview this week - and trust me, you're going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her.

How did your shop get started?

Most people do not know this, but I am actually a Cosmetologist turned Photographer turned Alchemist of sorts. Everything I have done was leading me to this. When I was younger I had a strong love affair with make-up , hair, products, and everything else that had anything to do with vanity. Cosmetology took me to great heights in Atlanta and I specialized in Redken hair color, products, and ‘make-overs.’ You could not keep me away from bright lights and Hair Shows! I stayed on the cutting edge and was always continuing my education and thirst for knowledge and worked hard, but could not get past the culture and behind the scenes of “The Salon” so I knew my time had come 12 years later and I left it for good. I had to reinvent myself, but stay true to my heart and soul, so I rode my time and went to college for Digital Photography after I moved to New England. I never did anything serious with Photography other than one publishing in a New Hampshire business magazine and small awards from my school, but it taught me how to take photos. Luckily for me starting an online “visual” business, going to school for Photography was exactly what I needed to do, not that I knew that then, of course.

What I am trying to say, is that I am not really sure, it just came to me, and I went with it. I guess I knew what I was doing after all. I needed something that I could still give to people in that fashion while staying home to grow a daughter and family life. I have also always had a strong love of botanicals and smells as I am a strong nostalgic and relate heavily to the way things make me feel by the way they smell. And what girl does not love to be surrounded by products? I am a self proclaimed “Product Whore”! It is a DREAM to be making my very own.

What does a typical day look like for you? How do you organize your time and tasks?

A typical day here starts with a 5 am wake up call from BOTH of my beloved cats who like to perch on my shoulder while purring very loudly, who after I am awake, want nothing to do with me. So I make coffee, get my daughter and husband out the door and start checking emails. I feel it is very important to start the day with a couple (yes, couple) of hours on Facebook. It is tough being so social sometimes, but I somehow make it through. I then check in to Etsy and my personal website and start organizing orders. I always have a large dry erase board on hand (make that two!) as I like to write daily/weekly items for orders on it. It is never empty, but always modified. Then I find the perfect music for the day to get me going (very important), play with my dogs, and get to work. One of the best things about owning a Cottage/Indie business is the luxury of choosing your slots of time , when and how you do things, and deciding on a whim to drop everything and run out the door to go to the beach if you like. But, you must be a master organizer and time manager. Whatever I may put aside for the day, gets done at night.

Where do you draw inspiration from currently?

Wow, what don't I draw inspiration from?! Nature, first and foremost. Then maybe a smell or a color. I have a habit of looking at a botanical and thinking “what can I do with this, and what kind of synergy can I create by adding something else.” Sometimes even just a simple feeling that a fragrance gives me will set me off into a crazed lab-state of mind. I am also always inspired by my competitors, big and small, and never hesitate to take a look around at all the trends. I was told once by my Art History teacher in college that in order to be a great artist, you must always appreciate other artists first and draw fragments of inspiration from them all. I liked that. (I like that, too, A LOT!)

Where did your shop name come from?

Oh gosh, this one is tough because the contradiction almost does not make sense, does that make sense? lol I have always had a somewhat naughty edge to me so I knew my name had to as well, but it was mostly a contradictory word play on the fact that I made a product to cleanse. The name just came to me almost like a kindred spirit and I ran with it and then the product names came soon after. I wanted to make a line that would appeal to the women who know how/when to be a lady on his arm and a freak in the bedroom, and women who just like skin care and perfume is nice, too.

What do you do when faced with a 'creative block'?

I do a lot of meditating. I don’t exactly sit cross legged with my palms turned towards the sky in a sing-songy fashion, but I do take stolen moments throughout my days to either channel or concentrate on whatever is happening or needing to happen in my life . I am a big believer in the saying “ask and you shall receive”. Sometimes it is as simple to me as needing to know where to go next, but I always stay focused on knowing that “it” WILL come to me. Along with that I might just ride it out – it is better than pushing too hard sometimes.

What is your favorite item?

Shauna, that is like asking who my favorite child is! Even though I only have one! Fine, Tanya. I'll tell everyone MY favorite - the MILF spray. Ohmygoodness - smells delicious and sexy! OR the Mermaid Hair - seriously, just get some.

What kind of things make you the happiest?

Ooooh, I just LOVE to wake up in the morning! That always starts my day off right! I love a warm Summer day with a slight breeze as much as the first snowfall. I could not live without poetry, especially Linda Goodman poetry - I am a hopeless romantic and it is disgusting sometimes. Any beach, especially mine. My daughter and husband make me laugh more than anyone normal person probably does. A really great book or movie. The way my cats wake me up in the morning (despite what I said) and sentimental people. Memories. My beautiful friends. And a very happy customer.

What is your favorite quote?

I am the Queen of Quotes! lol At the moment it is one by my brilliant nephew: “Our world needs History Makers and Visionaries, to open our eyes, to steer us to an altered path of existence but unfortunately we have them all medicated and staring into iPads”.

Anything else you want to tell us?

I adore what I do and think that the key to any “job” in life is just that - adore what you do. Find something you would do for free and do THAT. I also adore the people, friends, and customers who help make it all happen - without them it would not be possible.

Also, life is really short, and I do not mean that in a cliché way - I really mean that. And you just do not know if you will be one of the lucky ones to simply open your eyes and wake up tomorrow. And with that being said - cherish each and every single one of your memories, but live and love in the now. Be kind to the people in your lives and NEVER be scared to say and do what you want, and how you want to. And always smile, it is the second best thing that your lips can do!

First, can I just say that my customers (or as I call them, my lovelies) are just the cutest people in all the land? It's so true. I LOVE getting pictures of people wearing jewelry I've made - and today I got 2 pictures that made me squeal and do fist pumps.

It's time to meet Cole, from Handmade Colectibles. I first discovered Cole because I fell in love with her blog, Letters from Coco. Her pictures are gorgeous, she has two sons, and she loves family. I was hooked. And then I found out that she can make amazing things out of felt - and I was in LOVE. From felt rosettes to hair pretties to wreaths and even bouquets - Cole makes beautiful items out of felt. She's kind of my hero. Let's meet her - she's so much fun!

1. How did your shop get started?

I became a stay at home mom in July 2009, the day my second son was born. I loved every minute of being home with my boys but felt like something was missing. On a family vacation that summer we were shopping at an outside handmade/craft fair in huntington beach and I just knew that that's what I wanted to be doing. I was inspired but needed an idea. Fast forward a summer later- I wanted a wreath for my house but something fresh and modern. Come to find out there's not a whole lot of modern looking wreaths for sale in the stores. So I played and after making a few as gifts for family, decided I had found my niche.

2. What does a typical day look like for you? How do you organize your time and tasks?

I'm up by 5 most mornings. That way I have an hour to myself before the kids day starts. I'd like to say that I have a nice organized crafting schedule where I create in a pretty, inspiring workspace. In reality most of my crafting is done sitting on a stool in my kitchen, with music playing throughout the house, and squeeling boys running about. But that works for me. I think I've just recently realized the importance of designating certain hours for shop work. Because with a handmade business from home you can end up working yourself all day long which isn't good for you or your family. That's why I try not to work on orders on the weekends when daddy is home. I'm just now learning the importance of a good balance.

3. Where do you draw inspiration from currently?

My husband and I decided to make some big changes in our lives which meant being more cautious of how were spending our time and what we're filling ourselves up with. So we cut out TV, and have been spending more time reading together, doing outreach together, spending time with uplifting people. And it's a amazing the changes that happen when you're intentional about doing life differently. I feel so much more inspired every day just by filling myself with the good.

4. Name your top 5 favorite Etsy shops.

Tank and Tink- my house is filled with Molly's encouraging prints.

Tucker Reece - Jenna was one of my first shop friends and if you walked into my house you would think she set up a little shop to advertise in because I have her little love letters all over.

Apple Blossom Print - Rachel's done several custom orders for me and I'm always so impressed by her. Great customer service, wonderful product and the shipping time and packaging is always impressive. I order A TON from Etsy, so when I get this A+ treatment I almost always will come back and shop again.

MaryKateMcDevitt - one of those adorable shops where you secretly wish you would have thought of the idea first. Ha! Love her work.

Love Lune - always so impressed by Jill's work and she happens to be so, so sweet. Her pieces are some of my favorites to wear around.

5. Where did your shop name come from?

A friend of mine joked that I should call it 'wreath COLEectibles' to incorporate my name into it. She meant it as a joke but I really liked the idea and kept the colectibles part in it. Took out the wreath so that I could expand my product if I wanted to, which I have.

6. What is your favorite item?

Right now my favorite items are the wedding bouquets I'm working on. The thought of creating something for someone's special day was completely terrifying and at the same time so exciting. I was scared to do it at first but now I'm so glad that I took the leap.

7. What kind of things make you the happiest?

I love being outside. Coffee nights with my girlfriends. Decorating my house. Baking. Game nights. Having a real relationship with God and actually seeing Him at work in my life, changing this stubborn heart. Early morning snuggling in bed with my 3 boys. Getting to be at home with my boys and make pretty flowers every day. So many things!

8. What is your favorite quote?

It's time to introduce you to one of my first Etsy pals and talented friend, Jaimee, the designer and owner of Bushel and Peck Paper. Bushel and Peck Paper has it all - everything you could imagine, it's there, and it's amazing. From personalized bookplates to stationery to bags and party supplies - the possibilities are truly endless. Let's meet Jaimee!

1. How did your shop get started?

Our first shop, Modern Classics: Kids, was created out of basic mental necessity. I was on bed-rest with my son and going out of my mind. I had to find something to occupy my time while lying around like a beached whale. So, I whipped out the ol' laptop and started designing. My college roommate introduced me to Etsy and the rest is history. We've since changed names & location and can now be found over at www.bushelandpeckpaper.com & www.bushelandpeckpaper.etsy.com

2. What does a typical day look like for you? How do you organize your time and tasks?

Let's see...the day starts with getting the kiddo ready for school. Once he's on the bus & kisses are blown, I jog the one block home (that's my idea of exercise for the day) and get to work. First, it's answering emails & phone calls, then it's filling orders. There's usually a mid-day break for job #2 - dog walking! I help a friend out with her business and have a few steady clients now. You can't beat being paid for some fresh air and clearing your mind (along with a bit more of that exercise I love so much). Then, it's back to work until 3:45pm when I pick the little man back up at the bus stop. Homework, play, dinner, bedtime and then back in the studio until about 1am. They're long days and sleeping in on the weekend is MUCH appreciated at the end of the week. I try to stick with that schedule and it seems to be working. I need to lay off the business hours on the weekend a little more though. I'm too eager to please others and need to remember how to relax sometimes. I'm still working on that.

3. Where do you draw inspiration from currently?

My main source of inspiration is my little boy. Seeing what he's drawn to, the books we read... I LOVE children's books! Another little job I do on the side is volunteer at my son's school library. Every Tuesday, I get to peruse hundreds of books and see which ones the kids decide to bring home with them. I make mental notes of what's popular: dinosaurs, aliens, fairies, sports... I like pretty designs, but I work best when I have an entire theme to work around.

4. Name your top 5 favorite Etsy shops.

1. Hmmm...no brainer - LEMON KISSED!!! (bonus points for you, Jaimee!!)

2. Sea Urchin Studio - I strive to be that adorable on paper.

3. Gaia Conceptions - I would love an entire wardrobe of their creations.

4. Janet Hill Studio - everything is so dainty and the colors are so... candy!

5. My sister would kill me if I didn't say Lather Soap Co. She's got the same business gusto I've got. Must be in the blood!

5. Where did your shop name come from?

Bushel + Peck Paper came from my memories of my Grandmother singing the song to me ~ "I love you, a bushel and a peck..." It conjures up images of my childhood and a time when everything was full of fun and THAT'S what I wanted my shop to feel like.

6. What do you do when faced with a 'creative block'?

I panic and then don't try so hard. Things seem to happen best when you just go with the flow. I get most of my ideas when I lay down at night. That's why I've got my trusty pen and paper on the night stand. I'll jot down rhymes, doodles, themes and then get to work on them in the morning.

7. What is your favorite item?

Hmmm... I think it would have to be our new British Tea Party items. I just love the bold colors and the quirkiness of all things British!

8. What kind of things make you the happiest?

Seeing my family happy. I could be having the worst day and then hear my son giggle... everything becomes perfect again.

This just popped up on my phone and I knew right away when I saw my gorgeous friend Marie wearing her eggplant colored Piper dangles that I would have to share with all of you. THIS is exactly why I say that the Piper earrings go with anything. Dress them up or down. Marie looks HOT, and these earrings would be just as cute on a summer evening with your layered tank tops, favorite pair of jeans and some flips.

Lemon Shack Vintage

I realized something today... Well, I've realized many things, but we'll just start with one.

I haven't informed all of you about my newest shop, Lemon Shack Vintage, that I have started with my best friend Marie, of MarieLou on Etsy. We've been best friends since the 6th grade, ever since I saw her in her denim bucket hat and she was digging my plaid, flannel baby doll dress with sage green stretch pants. That's really beside the point. The point is: we both have a love of vintage and of rescuing treasures. We live 2 hours away from one another, yet this tricks us into thinking we are neighbors. We like to pretend we're the hotter, female versions of Frank and Mike, from American Pickers.

Here's a little taste of what's in our shop currently:

What do you do with all your jewelry when it isn't decorating you? You can only wear so many pieces at once, or so I'm told. I'm always curious to see how people store all their jewelry. There definitely isn't a right or a wrong answer, but it sure is fun to see what other people come up with.

How do I store my jewelry? Not in any particular method or way. I'd like to think it's somewhat organized chaos. I have a jewelry box for my nicer jewelry, that doesn't get worn all that often. I also have a few funky bowls and cups to hold some, and then the top drawer of my dresser is full of more storage for more jewelry. I guess I don't really have one set system, and that's fine. BUT, after searching for jewelry displays online this morning, I have found a few more methods I want to add to my jewelry storing needs.

Lemon Kissed is donating 50% of all proceeds from purple jewelry sales to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The money is going towards the fundraising goals of 2 dear friends (who also happen to be the most wonderful and caring couple we know!) who are running in the Eugene Marathon in May to help raise money for the LLS.

Lemon Kissed's ever-popular Haley earrings are now available in another color and they are just perfect for the spring season that is JUST around the corner! (as I type this, we have 3 inches of snow on the ground and it's suppose to be in the teens tonight.)

Haley earrings are now available in PURPLE!

In case you aren't familiar with these dangles, let me tell you why they are a favorite. Haley earrings are lightweight, and they are made of wood. The leaf measures 1.75 inches in length, so they are not too small, but by no means are they big and bulky. They are the perfect earring to pull together any outfit, or to put some color into your wardrobe. I love how easy and care-free they are!

the loft of Lemon Kissed

Hello beauties and beauts!

Have you ever wondered what Lemon Kissed looks like behind the scenes? Well, even if you haven't, you're about to find out! (unless you stop reading at this point and close this browser window)...

As most of you know, I'm a full-time mama to two devilishly handsome boys (ages 1 and 4 1/2), so my work space has to be kid-friendly and close to where the kidlets play. We moved in December into a lovely home that has the perfect loft space with gorgeous natural light, and before I even signed the lease, I knew that that loft would be Lemon Kissed's home.

Enjoy your peek into the area where your Lemon Kissed jewelry is created and packaged.

The loft is simple. I can't handle clutter, unless it's jewelry clutter...

Some of my favorite things in my workspace include:

- the boys' FatBoy bean bag chair (a recent present for Carsten's first birthday) - this gives the kids and I somewhere to snuggle, or more often a place for the boys to wrestle.
- the handmade table and stools - my mom had this made especially for Taylor when he was very small. It's well made and I love being low to the ground while making jewelry; maybe because it makes it harder for the kids to pull at my legs.
- my green armoire - refinished by my friend Julie, I was so excited when she wanted to get rid of it, I had been eying it for awhile, and I knew it'd be great at organizing my supplies and easy to help me hide my mess.
- Pier1 wire and frame - this is PERFECT for storing my dangle earrings that are in the shop without having to hunt for them when I make a sale.

I hope I didn't bore your pants off!

decorating help!

Okay you guys, I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do with my honking huge mantle in the living room. I don't want things to look crowded. Is it too late for that!? I don't like themes. I just know what I like and what I don't like. And I'm just going for relaxed.

Also, I'm going to be incorporating a small deer antler on the mantle, and it's old, so it's almost white-ish. Did you want to know that?! I saw a fake one at Kohl's and I loved it. So my mom went and found me one at an antique store for $15. Is this weird? I have a vision. Trust me. Is anyone understanding me?!

So, I just wanted to see if you all had any ideas for up there. It's about 2 feet deep (that's what she said...), and there's no electrical outlets up there, because that would be too convenient. So, are you up for the challenge of helping me decorate?? Oh, and it has to be budget friendly! (Dumb, huh?! I think so, too!).

I just had to share my two newest additions to my home - and both from Etsy, of course.

I have been trying to decorate my room for forever - it's always the last on the to-do list, and I wanted something I loved, not just something I liked. Finally, I got this print, On Guard, that I had been swooning over, from Jaimee at Modern Classics Paper and knew right away that I wanted a special frame for it.

I just recently found this frame, in an 8 inch by 8 inch square size, at DA Custom Frames, and I couldn't be more pleased. The frame is the perfect color, and is made so well. I love supporting handmade.

Just had to share these two Etsy shops with you. It would feel wrong keeping it a secret, and I can't handle guilt. Sharing is too much fun!

lemon drop studio was really lacking something until a week or so ago. It was lacking something that even my new shop Lemon Kissed already had. How did I go so long without a MUSTACHE PRINT in my shop?! How'd you guys let me get away with that!? I partially blame you. Well, I don't. It's my fault. But the point is... mustaches are here, and more are on the way.

Yesterday I dropped by my favorite coffee shop, Insomnia Coffee Company, which is EVER SO CONVENIENTLY located across the street from my home. Literally. (This is the same place that makes the chai tea latte that made me cry it was so good - seriously). They are such a great place - yummy, friendly and fun, and their location by my home is decorated with mustaches --- so I had to be a friendly neighbor and drop off a mustache print for them.

Here it is:

And the fun thing... you guys can have a mustache print, too. You get to choose your colors and your text, and the font, if you want. And remember, it's a printable now, so you choose the size and you may print as many as you'd like. Make them into gifts for the holidays like mugs, note cards and prints. We all know a mustache lover or two, right!?

Currently the mustache print resides in the FEATURED PRINT section of the shop - which means it's $10 rather than $15. This won't last long!

Lemon Kissed has made another necklace, and it's another one that I want to keep.

This is Jolie. It is a moss green leather cord necklace with clasp closure, and a wooden filigree tree pendant - perfect for the autumn season that is quickly approaching. Super light-weight and casual, this necklace will complete any outfit!

Summer is over. At least it feels like it. It's the Tuesday after our long Labor Day Weekend and it's pouring down rain here in the suburbs of Portland. The air smells lovely and clean, and change is in the air. We are coming upon my favorite season - Autumn. I love the cool, crisp, clear days that fall brings, and the oranges, greens and browns that fill my closet. I'm ready to put the swimsuits and capris in storage and pull out the sweaters, tall socks and the hot chocolate mix. It's time to quit painting the toes hot pink and find the crimson reds and browns.

Surely I can't be alone in craving changes, adjustments, reorganization and new routines at this time, right?

lemon drop studio has done some changing in our Etsy shop. Have you noticed?

lemon drop studio is now a shop full of printable prints and invitations. $15 buys you any customized print, in any size, and it's yours to print as many times as you would like. My favorite part about this change is that it gives me more time to create new prints and invites, AND my customers can still make the prints completely theirs by choosing the fonts, colors and more. My dear, lovely lemons!

Good evening, beauties. I hope this post finds you doing well. You're looking as awesome and beautiful as always.

lemon drop studio is making some changes. This wasn't an easy decision, but for the time being, it's best for me and my family. As of tonight, I am taking a break from custom silhouettes. Doing this will free up more time to create more printables for lemon drop studio as well as create more jewelry for Lemon Kissed, and most importantly, it gives me more time to spend with my sweet family.

I have LOVED doing custom silhouettes - they were always my favorite, but I haven't found a way to get more time out of the day, and something had to give. I want to thank all of my custom silhouette clients - I feel so honored to have had the chance to create amazing keepsakes for all of you!

Still interested in silhouettes and not sure where to go!? I have an answer! Jaimee at Bushel and Peck Paper has given me the green-light to refer clients to her for their custom silhouette needs... and guess what?! She's so super nice and wonderful and talented, so you'll love her just as much as you adore me, maybe even more!! Lemon Kissed has been thinking AUTUMN a lot lately, and I think it is reflected in the latest pieces that I've made. I am really loving the silver plated leaf charm right now - if you couldn't tell!

The top picture is Devin. A bracelet (3 separate strands), with magnetic closures, and a leaf charm adorning one of the strands. I like the versatility of this one - you can wear a single strand, double up, or wear all three for a nice, fun, bold statement! With all the fun colors, it is sure to match whatever you're wearing.

The middle picture shows my Callie dangle earrings. I love these! I think I am definitely making me a pair of my own soon. (This is happening quite frequently with what I've been creating!). Simple enough to wear everyday, but pretty and bold enough to be your statement piece.

The last picture is my Sam bracelet. She's already been sold (to Trask's cousin Sam!!), but I just had to share the pairing of my turquoise beads and the lighter green round beads, and of course, my leaf charm. LOVE this one, too!

The family and I just got back from camping in Central Oregon and I'm well-rested and ready to get back into the swing of things. I haven't had much time to create on my computer, but I have had time to make new earrings!

I just listed these Piper earrings in a fun, lacy metal filigree in eggplant purple and they sold within minutes (thanks, Macey!). I will have more of them (in a few color choices like silver, eggplant and mustard) soon!

These are the Rachel dangle, and they are still available in the shop - I have two pair. They are an awesome sage green, with the perfect patina, making them look super relaxed and casual, and are perfect for summer and fall!

I hope everyone is having a happy August. I am trying to savor the last of summer, but am really looking forward to the weather, color and routine that autumn brings!!

on vacation!

Both shops lemon drop studio and Lemon Kissed are going to be closed Thursday, August 5th through mid-day Monday, August 9th.

I will be spending time with my wonderful family at Suttle Lake in central Oregon - one of my most favorite places, ever. I am hoping that this trip will help me relax and have fun, and to take my mind off the day-to-day, while inspiring new lines for each shop.

Lemon Kissed was lucky enough to be featured on the front page of Etsy today, amongst a bunch of pretty cool items! My Bella dangle earrings in sage were the lucky ladies to be featured! A HUGE thank you to Kristi of Zuzu Girl for letting me know that they were up there - you're the greatest, Kristi!

The Bella dangle earrings are pretty fun - they are made from dyed volcanic lava (pumice) and the colors and texture are just amazing!

I am having a lot of fun with Lemon Kissed, and am in the process of getting ready to start necklaces, too. Think clusters of awesome goodness - and then you'll have the same vision in your head as I do.

Just got my 2 Tiny Tags necklace in the mail from StephieMc and I'm in Heaven!

What I love most about this necklace is that it's not super frilly or fancy. It's simple, it's fun, and it has Carsten and Taylor on the tags. I love the hammered edges on the tags and just the cleanliness of the design. I opened up the envelope, took note of the cute packaging, and then put the necklace on my neck right away. So far Carsten hasn't yanked at it at all - he saves his yanking for my hair and my neck skin!

I'm not a new customer to StephieMc Designs, and this won't be my last order. Each and every time I am more than delighted by my purchase - and Stephanie is so super sweet, too! Make sure you go and check out her Etsy shop when you can. (Like right now!).

I've always LOVED fabrics, and have always searched and searched for reasons to buy brilliant patterns and designs, but really lack sewing skills. And space to sew. However, that does not stop me from hoarding away fat quarters from wonderful designers like Amy Butler and Michael Miller. Instead, I've decided that fabric makes the perfect ribbon to package my jewelry boxes!

I love the way the fabric looks tied around the kraft jewelry box. It looks great, and is using pieces of material that some people would just throw away!! Plus, fabric just makes the best bows - much easier for me than using ribbon!

The next gift you need to wrap, save the Earth and some money and just look through your fabric! You can even go the extra mile and wrap your gift using a paper bag from the grocery store!! The earth will thank you!

I just listed one of lemon drop studio's newest prints on Etsy today and wanted to share it with all of you. Introducing: I Carry Your Heart.

This print is inspired the beautiful poem by e.e. cummings, entitled I Carry Your Heart - a poem that I shamefully didn't know about until I read the book In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. After reading the book, I looked up a bunch of e.e. cummings' poems and fell in love.

The I Carry Your Heart print is simple on purpose, because the words can mean so much, there's no need to get all fancy about things. I see this print hanging in a child's room, especially, or given to a couple as a wedding or anniversary gift.

True to lemon drop studio form, this new print is customizable. You can choose the background, text and heart colors from our color palette. They will be available in 3 sizes, 8x10, 5x7 and 4x6.

I hope you guys like the new print as much as I do! I can't wait to hang one up on my wall!

Lotus Earrings by Lemon Kissed

A sweet friend Robyn (hi Robyn!!) mentioned that I needed to show a picture of someone wearing the earrings that are in the shop so people can see what they look like when worn, size, etc.

I didn't have a cute person with pierced ears at my disposal, so I made my husband take a picture of me wearing my slate blue lotus earrings. So, my friends, this is what they look like.

Rest assured you are always getting NEW, never worn earrings, I just wanted to include an example of me wearing my own. No ear cooties included with earring sales, just great earrings and free shipping!

Lemon Kissed, lemon drop studio's sister shop, is up and running! (With a huge THANK YOU to Elizabeth from Polka Dot Skies for being my first sale!)

I am in the process of doing something I have wanted to do for a long time: making earrings!

So, lemon drop studio is going to have a sister etsy shop called Lemon Kissed. We have the shop open, but no earrings in yet. I will keep you all posted on when it's open, and we'll have a super fun grand opening sale, just for blog readers and facebook fans!!
