new at lemon drop studio: color choices + prints

Greetings! I hope everyone is having a fun, sunny and relaxing weekend! I wanted to drop by to showcase a few new prints that have just been listed in lemon drop studio's etsy shop.

First is the Italian Greyhound Silhouette. This print was originally made for one of Trask's favorite clients, an enthusiastic Italian Greyhound owner, and now it's in the Etsy shop for all the dog lovers to admire.

Next is this fun T-Rex Silhouette that is ready to personalize with any child's name, and is perfect for the dino-lover in your life. I know there are tons of dino-enthusiasts out there. I have one residing in my home currently! The T-Rex also has his Brontosaurus buddy, too, so he'll never be lonely.

lemon drop studio now also has an expanded color palette! I used to have 15 colors to choose from, but have added more, so you now have 30 colors to mix and match - talk about fun!!

In addition to the new and improved color palette, a font choice list has been added, with 10 fun fonts to choose when customizing any print or silhouette from lemon drop studio's etsy shop.

Please check out lemon drop studio's newest blog feature, Giveaway Love. I am so excited to announce that EVERY Friday there will be a giveaway - and lots of chances to win! I never win giveaways, so I think I am meant to host giveaways! Please check back frequently to stay in the loop!

Thanks all! You guys make this so much fun!

New Artist, New Week

Hey Little Lemon Lovers, thanks for coming back for another Monday feature: New Week, New Artist (or New Artist, New Week - say it however you want to!). If you missed the last New Week, New Artist Feature, you can see it here. I am playing catch up, sorry for the delay, but better late than never. Believe me, you've all been on my mind, and I feel horrible for being late. Forgive me! Please. Blogging can be hard work!

Today I am going to introduce you all to Carrie, of L7 Designs. Carrie and I 'met' on Twitter, I believe, after I fell in love with her logo! It's catchy, isn't it?! As a maker of cards myself, I get TIRED when it's time to make cards for my family, and when I saw L7 Designs, I knew I had better save this shop for times when I am unable to make cards, or just want some fun variety! L7 Designs specializes in
one-of-a-kind, handcrafted scrapbooks and cards, and that includes custom work!

From L7 Designs, here is Carrie!!

I've been making cards for over 10 years, since high school, working with construction paper, tacky glue and National Geographic magazines! I absolutely love handmade cards - even the most simple designs express more heartfelt sentiments than something store bought!

I started L7Designs almost a year ago in July to help inspire others into making or buying handmade cards. Each week I feature a custom card tutorial on my blog to help inspire others into creating their own works of art.

I get my inspiration for my cards from just about anything - the person I'm creating for, the paper I'm working with or designed around a particular embellishment. My cards are a personal, creative piece of me: simple but full of color, detail and love!

I love that Carrie's shop has cards for any occasion, and so neatly organized in her shop, too! Find just what you are looking for, quick and easy, and the fact that she makes custom cards makes it THAT much easier for YOU! I enjoy all Carrie's cards, but I am showcasing my favorites. Keep in mind that she also makes albums and other fun paper crafted goodies - make sure you go take a peek!

My favorite is Carrie's L7 Designs Card of the Month Club. L7 Designs Card of the Month Club includes 12 cards or card kits (a full year) as well as 2 FREE cards for signing up! Your card will be mailed on the 15th of each month. Click on the link for more details, but really, how fun is that?! I love it!

Isn't Carrie just sweet?! Please remember her website, and that she blogs and she is on Twitter, too!

Carrie, thank you so much for allowing me to feature you on my blog, and I apologize from the bottom of my heart for being late!! I just adore your work and hope you keep it up!

My lovely lemons, thank you so much for coming back again! I hope you guys are enjoying all the wonderful features. They have been so much fun to do, and make Mondays a little more exciting! You know, something to look forward too! I'll see you all again soon! Thanks for reading!

If you have an etsy shop that you would like me to feature, or would like to nominate a shop to be featured, please email me at lemondropstudio@gmail.com and we'll get started. I like to have Monday features lined up a few weeks in advance.

New Artist New Week

Hey Little Lemon Lovers, thanks for coming back for another Monday feature: New Week, New Artist (or New Artist, New Week - say it however you want to!). If you missed the last New Week, New Artist Feature, you can see it here. I am playing catch up, so I will be introducing you to 2 lovely artists with great etsy shops. Sorry for the delay, but better late than never. Believe me, you've all been on my mind, and I feel horrible for being late. Forgive me! Please.

Let me introduce to you a lovely shop, Mantra Gems. I discovered Mantra Gems from a friend on Twitter who nominated this shop to be featured. I promised to check out the shop, and when I did, I was pleased! You all know I love jewelry. You have to know this by now, and Mantra Gems is no exception. I am showcasing my favorites, but I highly recommend visiting Mantra Gems on etsy and choosing your own faves. And you know what, everything comes in the coolest looking bag for your purchase, which makes it that much more fun!
So, here's a little more about Mantra Gems and Carleen:

It's amazing even now, after years of teaching jewelry and owning a bead store, the effect a glistening strand of gemstones or the smooth reflective surface of metal, can have on me physically. As I evolve into the role of jewelry designer, I sometimes have a design in mind, but I find more likely these days, I let the moment at hand lead me creatively. It's a pleasant release after driving my kids to and from school, swimming, and play-dates. At nights, when everyone is tucked in their beds and the house is quiet, I step into my studio and have my special time playing with rocks and metal.

Now really, how fun does that sound?! I have picked a few of my favorites, like the sacred space necklace, the peace and love necklace, as well as the cascading droplet earrings - gorgeous!

I especially like Mantra Gems because a portion of proceeds is donated to charities that empower women in developing countries to become self-reliant through micro-finance loans and jobs + leadership training. So it's like gaining a great piece of jewelry and helping to make a difference at the same time! Genius!

You may visit Mantra Gems on Etsy, here, or you may go directly to their website, here. I do recommend going to Carleen's website, it's really fun and there are great pieces on there that I just know you guys will enjoy. Either way, you're bound to find something that you love, and you can even have something custom-made just for you! How cool is that? Very cool. The answer is very cool.

Carleen, thank you so much for allowing me to feature you on my blog, and I apologize from the bottom of my heart for being late!!

I like to have Monday features lined up a few weeks in advance.

busy, busy

I am so terribly sorry that I have been absent from my blogs lately - lemon drop studio has been busy, and that's a good thing, but you know what happened? We missed some New Artist New Week posts, so we have to play a little bit of catch up.

I will be featuring Mantra Gems and L7 Designs shortly, please stay tuned, and don't give up on me or fall in love with someone else. I promise I've been thinking about blogging. Pinky swear.

I will also soon be talking about lemon drop studio's most recent Artisan Fair over Mother's Day Weekend, and may have some pictures to share.

Oh, and also BIG NEWS about a 20% off everything, one-day sale coming up soon (Thursday, May 21st, 2009!!).

Off to go do my Etsy Feature blog post. Stay tuned.

Hey Little Lemon Lovers, thanks for coming back for another Monday feature: New Week, New Artist (or New Artist, New Week - say it however you want to!). If you missed last week's feature, you can see it here.

We are now on our eighth week, and it seems that this feature has been a hit. Thanks for sticking around to see all the new + fun shops that are featured.
And a huge THANK YOU to all of the Etsians that make these features possible. I love sharing all the talent with my readers, and making new friends in the process, like Laura Trevey!

Today I am going to introduce you to Laura Trevey, who is the talented Etsian behind Watercolors by Laura L. Trevey. Laura's watercolors are amazing. I cannot paint to save my life, but even if I could, these paintings would still be gorgeous, breath-taking and awesome to me. I just ordered her crab watercolor and I can't wait to put it in Taylor's room! Isn't it great?!

{mother's day}

Mother's Day is right around the corner. Are you ready? You have 9 days. Nine.

lemon drop studio is going to be at the Jenkins Estate on Mother's Day Weekend (May 9th and 10th) with a table full of fresh-squeezed gifts. I'll have cards, note cards, hair clips and ponies, gift tags, silhouettes, prints and more. It's going to be wonderful! If you are local to the Portland-Metro area, please stop by and say hello! There will be lots of things going on at Jenkins Estate in addition to the Artisan Fair. It runs both days from 11-4.

Here are some of the Mother's Day cards I have made recently. I am not posting them on Etsy, as most have purchased their cards by now. HOWEVER, if you'd like a custom card, or one of these pictured on this post, there is still time! Contact me via comment or email {lemondropstudio@gmail.com} and we'll get you all ready for Mother's Day.

This Mother's Day, don't forget your Aunts, Grandmas and other special ladies in your life.

Also, please remember your dear friends who may be expecting a baby soon, or are a new-mama... it feels so good to be recognized and remembered. These baby-bump cards [pictured above] are available in the shop right now. And it feels even better to receive a lemon drop studio card. It really does.

cute packaging

Need another idea for a great way to use your lemon drop studio scallops? Yeah, I thought so.

Make packaging a gift simple, cute and affordable by using a scallop to garnish your gifts. This scallop is held down by the ribbon that is wrapped around the box. On the backside I have written a short, sweet message to my mother-in-law. Yes, I promise it's a nice message. (But you could basically write anything and it'd look nice since it's on such a sweet scallop!)

You can find lemon drop studio's scallops here. They come in two different sizes: 2 inch and 1-1/2 inch.

How easy is that? And how cute is that?! I love using the scallops for gift tags, writing little notes and much more.
